In This Policy


Definitions

"Product" means any physical item purchased from Modern Standard, including MagSafe charging stations, travel chargers, portable power banks, and accessories.

"Delivery Date" means the date on which the carrier confirms delivery to the shipping address provided at checkout, or the date on which the Product is collected from a pickup location.

"Proof of Purchase" means an order confirmation email from modernstandard.co, a receipt from an Authorized Retailer, or other documentation that verifies the purchase date, Product, and price paid.

"Manufacturing Defect" means a flaw in materials or workmanship originating from the manufacturing process that causes the Product to fail under Normal Use conditions. Modern Standard shall make the final determination of whether a defect qualifies as a Manufacturing Defect, acting reasonably and in good faith.

"Normal Use" means operation of the Product in accordance with its intended purpose and any instructions provided, without exposure to conditions beyond its design specifications.

"Authorized Retailer" means a third-party seller expressly authorized by Modern Standard to sell its Products. A current list is available upon request.


Returns & Refunds

30-Day Return Policy

You may return any Product within 30 days of the Delivery Date for a full refund on product costs. You can open the box and test the Product—normal signs of handling are perfectly acceptable.

To qualify for a return, items must be in reasonable condition, defined as: the Product functions as intended, shows no physical damage beyond minor handling marks from testing, contains all original components and accessories, and has not been permanently altered, modified, or misused. Original packaging is preferred but not required.

Sale items, discounted purchases, and individual items from bundles are all eligible for returns. Bundle item refunds reflect the individual item price rather than the bundled discount.

Requests received after the 30-day return window are not guaranteed approval. Modern Standard may, at its sole discretion, consider late requests on an exceptional basis. Any such accommodation does not establish precedent or modify this policy for future transactions.

Proof of Purchase

All return and warranty claims require valid Proof of Purchase presented at the time of claim submission. Acceptable documentation includes order confirmation emails from modernstandard.co, receipts from Authorized Retailers showing date, Product, and price, or bank/credit card statements paired with shipping confirmation.

Customers are responsible for retaining Proof of Purchase for the duration of the warranty period. Claims submitted without valid Proof of Purchase may be denied.

How To Return

Step 1: Email info@modernstandard.co with your order number and item(s) you wish to return. Lost your order confirmation? Provide the name and email used at checkout and we'll locate it.

Step 2: Pack the Product securely, using original packaging if available.

Step 3: We'll send a prepaid shipping label. Attach it and drop off at your nearest carrier location. Keep your drop-off receipt as proof of postage.

Step 4: Once received and inspected, we'll process your refund within one business day.

You have 14 days to ship after receiving your label. Need more time? Just ask. To cancel a return request, notify us before shipping.

Refund Details

Refunds are issued to the original payment method (credit card, PayPal, Apple Pay, Afterpay, etc.) and typically appear within 3–5 business days, though timing may vary depending on your financial institution or payment provider. Modern Standard is not responsible for delays caused by third-party payment processors.

For Afterpay orders, the refund adjusts your remaining payments accordingly.

Refunds cover product costs only. Original shipping fees are non-refundable unless the item arrived damaged or defective. Discounted orders are refunded at the amount actually paid.

Prefer store credit? Let us know—it's delivered via email and never expires.

Exchanges

To exchange for a different Product, contact our support team. We'll coordinate the swap and charge or refund any price difference. Sale pricing is honored on exchanges where possible.

Damaged, Defective, or Incorrect Items

If your order arrives damaged, defective, or incorrect, you must notify us within 7 days of the Delivery Date by emailing info@modernstandard.co with your order number and photographic evidence of the issue (plus the shipping label for transit damage). Failure to report within this timeframe may result in denial of your claim. Do not initiate a standard return for these issues.

We'll send a replacement immediately, typically without requiring the damaged item back. For wrong items, we'll ship the correct Product and arrange collection at no cost. For cosmetic defects, we'll offer a replacement, partial refund, or full return—your choice.

Gifts

Gift recipients may return or exchange items using the order number or gift receipt. Refunds for gift returns are issued as non-transferable store credit to the gift recipient. Alternatively, upon request from the original purchaser, refunds may be issued to the original payment method.

Store credit is for single-account use only and may not be resold, transferred, or redeemed for cash. Gift receipts (showing item but not price) are available upon request at checkout.

International Returns

International orders are eligible for free return shipping within 30 days. Refunds may take 7–10 business days to appear. Customs duties and import taxes are non-refundable by us—contact your local customs office to reclaim these.

Shipping

Return shipping is free worldwide for both standard returns and warranty claims. If your return is lost in transit, keep your drop-off receipt—we'll process your refund regardless.

Title & Risk of Loss

For returns and warranty claims, risk of loss transfers to Modern Standard only upon confirmed delivery to our designated return facility. Until that point, you are responsible for any loss or damage during transit.

Returns must be shipped using the prepaid label provided by Modern Standard. If you choose to use a different carrier or shipping method, you assume all risk of loss, damage, or delay, and Modern Standard is not responsible for shipments that fail to arrive.

We strongly recommend keeping your drop-off receipt and tracking shipments until delivery is confirmed.

Inspection Rights

All returned Products are subject to inspection upon receipt. Modern Standard reserves the right to deny refunds, exchanges, or warranty replacements if inspection reveals that the Product does not meet return eligibility requirements, the defect is not covered under warranty, the Product has been tampered with, misused, or damaged by the customer, or the Product was not purchased from Modern Standard or an Authorized Retailer.

If a claim is denied, we will notify you within 10 business days of completing our inspection. You will then have 14 days to request return of the Product at your expense. If no response is received within 14 days, Modern Standard may dispose of the Product without further notice or liability.


1-Year Manufacturer Warranty

Coverage Period

Every Modern Standard Product is protected against Manufacturing Defects for 12 months from the Delivery Date.

Registration

Purchases from modernstandard.co: No registration required. Your warranty activates automatically on delivery. Order confirmation and shipping records serve as Proof of Purchase.

Purchases from Authorized Retailers: Retain your receipt. The warranty begins from the purchase date shown.

Return vs. Warranty

Changed your mind or Product doesn't suit your needs within 30 days? That's a return. Product develops a fault or stops working after 30 days? That's a warranty claim.

What's Covered

Manufacturing Defects under Normal Use, including:

  • Charging failures (won't charge, intermittent charging, reduced output)
  • Magnetic defects (weak MagSafe alignment or grip)
  • Electrical failures (LED malfunctions, port failures, circuitry issues)
  • Structural defects (separated housing, broken hinges, unstable stands)
  • Cosmetic defects present on arrival (if reported within 14 days of the Delivery Date)

What's Not Covered

  • Physical damage (drops, impacts, crushing)
  • Liquid damage
  • Improper use (wrong adapters, exceeding voltage ratings)
  • Unauthorized modification or repair
  • Normal wear and tear (scratches, fading, finish wear)
  • Damage from third-party accessories
  • Products from unauthorized resellers or secondhand markets

How To Make a Claim

Step 1: Locate your order confirmation or receipt (Proof of Purchase).

Step 2: Email info@modernstandard.co with your order number, product name, issue description, and photos or video if possible.

Step 3: Our team may request basic troubleshooting to rule out simple fixes.

Step 4: Once approved, we'll send a prepaid return label.

Step 5: After inspection, we'll ship a replacement within 5–7 business days. If unavailable, you may choose a comparable Product or store credit.

Fulfillment Terms

Warranty claims are fulfilled by replacement, not repair. Replacements may be new or refurbished units meeting our quality standards. The replacement carries the remaining warranty term of the original Product.

Only return the defective unit—keep original cables and adapters unless instructed otherwise. Processing typically takes 10–14 business days from receipt.

Sole Remedy: Replacement of the defective Product is your sole and exclusive remedy under this warranty. This warranty does not cover ancillary costs such as installation, removal, transportation, or any other expenses beyond the replacement Product itself.

Product Safety

Modern Standard Products are designed to meet applicable safety standards for consumer electronics. By using any Modern Standard Product, you acknowledge that you have read and understood all provided instructions and safety guidelines. You assume full responsibility for proper use and accept all risks associated with failure to follow such guidelines.

Modern Standard expressly disclaims liability for any injury, death, property damage, or device damage arising from misuse, improper installation, use with incompatible devices or accessories, or failure to follow safety instructions.


Legal & Consumer Rights

Limitations of Liability

This warranty is the sole warranty provided by Modern Standard. To the fullest extent permitted by law, we disclaim all other warranties, express or implied, including merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose.

Our liability is limited to replacement of the defective Product. We are not liable for incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including damage to charged devices, data loss, or loss of use. Maximum liability shall not exceed the original purchase price.

Your Consumer Rights

This policy provides specific legal rights. You may have additional rights depending on your jurisdiction. Some regions prohibit limitations on implied warranties or exclusion of certain damages—those limitations may not apply to you.

Nothing in this policy limits your statutory rights. If you receive a faulty or misdescribed Product, you're entitled to a remedy regardless of our stated timeframes.

Policy Abuse

Modern Standard reserves the right to refuse returns, exchanges, or warranty claims where there is evidence of fraud, abuse, or manipulation of this policy. This includes excessive return patterns, claims on Products not purchased from Modern Standard or Authorized Retailers, and submission of false or misleading information. We may limit or revoke return privileges for accounts associated with abusive behavior.

Dispute Resolution

Any dispute arising from this policy or your purchase shall first be addressed through our customer support team. If unresolved within 30 days, either party may initiate binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association under its Consumer Arbitration Rules. Arbitration shall occur in California, and the arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding. Notwithstanding the foregoing, either party may bring an individual action in small claims court if the claim qualifies.

You and Modern Standard each waive the right to a jury trial for any dispute arising under this policy or related to your purchase. You agree to resolve disputes individually and waive any right to participate in class action lawsuits, collective actions, or class-wide arbitration.

This arbitration agreement does not prevent you from bringing issues to the attention of federal, state, or local agencies, who may seek relief on your behalf.

If you do not wish to be bound by arbitration, you may opt out by notifying us in writing within 30 days of your first purchase at legal@modernstandard.co. Your opt-out notice must include your name, address, email, and a clear statement that you reject this arbitration agreement.

Force Majeure

Modern Standard shall not be liable for delays or failure to fulfill returns, refunds, or warranty claims due to circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, pandemics, war, terrorism, labor disputes, carrier delays, supply chain disruptions, or government actions.

We will resume performance as soon as reasonably practicable. If a force majeure event causes delays exceeding 14 days, we will notify affected customers via email at the address associated with their order. If delays exceed 60 days, customers may cancel their pending return or warranty claim and receive a refund or store credit at Modern Standard's discretion.

Entire Agreement

This policy, together with our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, constitutes the entire agreement between you and Modern Standard regarding returns, refunds, and warranty coverage. No verbal or written statements made by employees, representatives, or third parties outside of this policy shall modify or expand these terms.

No Waiver

Failure by Modern Standard to enforce any provision of this policy shall not constitute a waiver of that provision or the right to enforce it at a later time. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Modern Standard to be effective. A waiver granted in one instance does not obligate Modern Standard to grant the same waiver in future instances.

Assignment

You may not assign, transfer, or delegate your rights or obligations under this policy without Modern Standard's prior written consent. Any attempted assignment without consent is void. Modern Standard may assign this policy in connection with a merger, acquisition, corporate reorganization, or sale of all or substantially all of its assets without your consent.

Severability

If any provision of this policy is found to be invalid, illegal, or unenforceable by a court of competent jurisdiction, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect. The invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable while preserving its original intent.

Governing Law

This policy is governed by the laws of the State of California. Disputes shall be resolved in California courts, except where arbitration applies as outlined above.

Policy Amendments

Modern Standard reserves the right to modify this policy at any time. Changes take effect upon posting to our website. For material changes that significantly affect your rights, we will make reasonable efforts to provide notice via email or prominent website announcement at least 14 days before the changes take effect.

The policy in effect at the time of your purchase governs your return and warranty rights for that transaction. Continued use of our website or purchases after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised policy for future transactions.
